This week, there wasn’t very much movement in the top spots, with only a handful of ranked teams falling this week. Xavier, with a slew of suspensions because of last week’s brawl with Cincy, lost to Oral Roberts.
I still like North Carolina at No. 2 and Ohio State at No. 3 because UNC lost to the No. 1 team and to a game UNLV squad and OSU lost without Sullinger — hard to penalize them for that. The fact that the Buckeyes had a close game against South Carolina shows both how valuable Sullinger is and how talented they are to win on the road without him.
Speaking of the Jayhawks, I’m liking them more and more after seeing them in person in Maui and how they’ve jelled with a new cast to supplement Thomas Robinson. Their inside-outside game will be tough to match in the NCAA Tournament.
I still have six Big Ten teams on my ballot, though Illinois lost this week. It’ll make for an interesting time when conference play begins next week.
And for the record, I’m keeping Harvard in the Top 25 until the Crimson loses again. Period.
