Eastern Michigan baseball team best in MAC West

Eastern Michigan’s baseball team heads into this weekend’s series against Central Michigan on a roll.

The Eagles swept a three-game series over in-state rival Western Michigan in Kalamazoo last weekend. They are coming off a 13-5 win over Michigan State Wednesday, scoring 12 runs in the third inning.

Now, the Eagles will put their first-place spot in the Mid-American Conference West Division on the line tonight (6 p.m.) when they host CMU (14-19, 5-4) at Oestrike Stadium.

Senior Brent Ohrman had a weekend to remember against WMU, going 10-for-15 and scoring eight runs to push his average to .347. He was 2-for-5 with three RBI against the Spartans.

The Eagles, 14-18, are 6-3 in the MAC. They are 2-2 against Big Ten teams, also defeating Michigan earlier this season.

Jay Alexander’s Eagles have played well at home (6-2), hitting .328 and scoring 8.4 runs per game.
