One of the side discussions in all this college football playoff talk is whether a 6-6 team should be bowl-eligible.
Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon said recently he does not believe a six-win team should be rewarded with a bowl.
“That weakens the bowl system,” Brandon said. “That weakens the quality of some of the bowls. In my opinion, a program should have a minimum of seven wins. If that was a proposal before me, I would vote for it.”
Eliminating six-win teams likely would eliminate a handful of bowl games.
“And I don’t know that would be bad thing,” he said. “The key thing is a program should have a winning record to celebrate being part of a bowl. That would be a positive change.”
