The recruiting battle for Jabari Parker, the 6-foot-8, 220-pound blue-chip recruit from Chicago Simeon High has already been intense and Michigan State has been right in the thick of it.
To that end, coach Tom Izzo sure had to be happy with a tweet from Parker on Wednesday that announced the 10 schools he will choose from after he finishes his senior season.
“UK, Stanford, michigan state, Kansas, Florida, Duke, BYU, Georgetown, Depaul, UNC. No order,” was what Parker posted on his Twitter account.
Michigan State and Duke have been hot after Parker for some time and BYU is in the mix because of Parker’s Mormon faith. The real surprise is that Illinois didn’t make the cut. The prevailing notion had been that new Illini coach John Groce had a real shot at landing the in-state star. However, it appears that ship has sailed.
Still a long way to go until Parker makes his final choice, but it’s good news for Michigan State that it is still high on his list.
