Former Hillsdale College star Andre Holmes will be on the field tonight when the Dallas Cowboys play the Raiders in Oakland on Monday Night Football (8 p.m., ESPN).
Holmes is fighting for the No. 3 receiver spot. He was on the Cowboys’ practice squad last season.
Holmes made the play of the day Saturday in the Cowboys’ final practice heading into their preseason opener, using his 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame to grab a Hail Mary pass from Kyle Orton.
Now, Holmes will try to impress the coaching staff against the Raiders. A starting receiver spot opened up when Laurent Robinson signed a five-year, $32.5 million free-agent contract with Jacksonville in March.
Holmes will be on the same field tonight with former Hillsdale teammate Jared Veldheer who is the Raiders’ starting tackle.
