Michigan State struck quickly in the third quarter.
After forcing Central Michigan to a three-and-out on the opening drive of the half, the Spartans rolled down the field in five plays, taking a 31-0 lead on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Maxwell to Bennie Fowler. It was Fowler’s eighth catch of the day for 99 yards.
DeAnthony Arnett had his first reception as a Spartan, connecting with Maxwell for 48 yards on the second play of the drive.
