Michigan defender Frank Clark made up for an offsides and batted down a pass from UMass quarterback Mike Wegzyn to force the Minutemen to settle for a field goal.
The Wolverines now lead 14-3 after Brendon Levengood made a 25-yard field goal early in the second quarter for UMass.
