Michigan State needed to work on its passing game today and it appears there is a long way to go.
The Spartans have managed only 31 yards through the air in first half they have dropped at least six passes. Combined with some poor throws by Andrew Maxwell and the Spartans are trailing Eastern Michigan at halftime, 7-3.
Eastern Michigan came into the game ranked 116th in the nation in total defense and the Spartans have failed to get anything going.
Le’VeonBell has been effective, gaining 117 yards on 17 carries, but that has been it.
Eastern Michigan got its touchdown on a 23-yard pass from Tyler Benz to Donald Scott after Bennie Fowler fumbled at the MSU 23.
Michigan State’s points came on a 35-yard field goal by Dan Conroy, who missed from 39 yards in the first quarter.
