Michigan has come out in the first quarter against Purdue in the Big Ten opener for both teams determined to make a point.
The Wolverines’ defense held Purdue to a three-and-out to open the game and then senior quarterback Denard Robinson directed a 17-play, 78-yard drive that gave them a 7-0 lead when Fitz Toussaint scored from one yard with 4:40 left in the first quarter.
Michigan kept the drive alive on fourth-down-and-four at the Purdue 22-yard line, converting when Devin Gardner caught an eight-yard pass for the first down.
