Michigan takes lead on Gallon TD

The rain has stopped long enough at Michigan Stadium for Michigan to take a 7-0 lead over Illinois.

Jeremy Gallon went 71 yards on a screen from quarterback Denard Robinson for the touchdown with 8:12 left in the first quarter.

That was the Wolverines’ first series of the game. Tailback Fitz Toussaint, who has struggled to find a rhythm this season, had a nice up-the-middle run, but freshman Dennis Norfleet, who has been used primarily on kickoff returns, and sophomore Thomas Rawls also lined up on offense.

Michigan is 3-2 overall, and 1-0 in the Big Ten.
