Michigan was favored by nearly 10 points heading into the Michigan State game today at Michigan Stadium, but it’s scoreless after one quarter.
The 23rd-ranked Wolverines are hoping to break the Spartans’ four-game winning streak in the series, but there hasn’t been much give by either team in the first quarter.
Michigan has 52 total yards, including 15 rushing, while Michigan State has 43 yards, including 15 yards.
Denard Robinson, the Wolverines’ senior quarterback, is 4-of-4 for 37 yards passing, and he has four yards rushing on six carries. MSU quarterback Andrew Maxwell is 5-of-7 for 28 yards. Le’Veon Bell has 15 rushing yards on five carries.
Before the game on the U-M radio network, Michigan coach Brady Hoke made clear what the rivalry is about.
“No one likes each other,” Hoke said. “That’s what makes it special.”
