Michigan strikes first versus Michigan State

Michigan kicker Brendan Gibbons made a 24-yard field goal to give the Wolverines a 3-0 lead with 10:20 left in the first half.

The Wolverines reached the MSU 6-yard line on a 38-yard run by tailback Fitz Toussaint, but on the next play, Toussaint lost six yards and pushed Michigan back to the 12. The Wolverines could not move beyond the MSU 7-yard line and settled for the field goal.

Michigan now has 125 total yards, including 52 rushing.

U-M senior quarterback Denard Robinson is 7-of-9 passing for 73 yards. Toussaint has 40 yards on three carries. Drew Dileo has two catches for 37 yards to lead the Wolverines.

MSU has 43 total yards.
