Michigan State bumbles its way through first half at Wisconsin

Michigan State trails Wisconsin by just four points at halftime, but considering the mistakes the Spartans made, it’s a wonder it was ever that close.

The defense has again been outstanding, but the offense continues to make a mess of the season.

The epitome of the season came late in the first half after Michigan State eventually blocked a punt by Wisconsin’s Drew Meyer after he misplayed the snap.

Michigan State took over at the Wisconsin 11-yard line and eventually punted. Two penalties and a sack pushed the Spartans back who managed no points out of the exchange.

Wisconsin’s Montee Ball has only 18 yards on seven carries but quarterback Joel Stave is 9-for-11 for 127 yards and touchdown.

Andrew Maxwell is 11-for-19 for 107 yards and Le’Veon Bell nine carries for 30 yards, eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark for the season.
