Michigan has defeated Northwestern, 38-31, in overtime.
Linebacker Kenny Demens made huge stops on consecutive plays to stuff Northwestern, first for a one-yard loss to force fourth down, and then on fourth down.
“They were going to run,” Demens said after the game on U-M radio. “There was no doubt in my mind. I came through and made the right read. I came clean.”
Michigan is now 4-0 in overtime games at Michigan Stadium.
More important for the Wolverines, they remain alive in the Big Ten race with two regular-season games left.
