Iowa has tied Michigan with a long drive.
Quarterback James Vandenberg has completed 7-of-8 passes for 53 yards, including a 16-yard pass to Henry Coble for the score.
It is 7-7 at the end of the first quarter after the Hawkeyes’ 75-yard, 14-play drive.
But Michigan is driving. Senior Denard Robinson just broke a 40-yard run. The Wolverines will open the second quarter at the Iowa 30-yard line.
Devin Gardner has scored on a run from a half yard out to give Michigan a 7-0 lead against Iowa.
The drive covered 70 yards on 12 plays, but it proved costly.
Tailback Fitz Toussaint left the field on a cart after suffering an apparent injury to his left leg. His leg was stabilized in a long air cast.
The storyline heading into the game was whether Robinson would play today. He did start his final home game at Michigan Stadium – at tailback.
Robinson has missed the last two and a half games with an injury to the ulnar nerve in his right arm. The injury causes numbness and has limited his ability to grip the football.
Gardner has started the last two weeksat quarterback and led Michigan to victories in both, including last Saturday’s 38-31 overtime victory against Northwestern.
Robinson, wearing a blue protective sleeve, had a three-yard gain on his first carry of the game.
