Northwestern strikes quickly against Michigan State

Northwestern took the opening kickoff and quickly moved down the field, taking a 3-0 lead on a 24-yard field goal by Jeff Budzien.

The Wildcats went 68 yards in 13 plays and moved fairly easily against the Michigan State defense.

The Spartans did stiffen deep in their own territory after giving up four first downs on the drive.
