Cook's first career TD pass gets Michigan State back in the game

Michigan State made a change at quarterback, started to feed its best player and has now gotten back in the game late in third quarter.

Redshirt freshman Connor Cook came in for Andrew Maxwell and helped lead a 14-play drive with the help of some outstanding running by Bell, and a throw from the quarterback.

Cook connected with Aaron Burbridge for a 15-yard touchdown pass, the first of Cook’s career, to cut the TCU lead to 13-7 with 34 seconds left in the third quarter. But it was a pass from Bell that sparked the drive.

On a third-down play near midfield, Bell took the direct snap and connected with fullback TyQuan Hammock on a 29-yard pass. Hammock spent all season at linebacker before moving over during bowl practices.

Bell is MSU’s leading passer at this point, one yard ahead of Maxwell.
