Michigan senior defensive lineman Craig Roh will make his 51st career start on Tuesday in the Outback Bowl, his final game for the Wolverines.
With that start, Roh will set a program record, edging former offensive lineman Jon Jansen, who made 50 starts.
“Keeping yourself healthy, taking care of yourself is part of it,” Michigan coach Brady Hoke said of Roh’s consecutive starts. “Craig is very much into his body and making sure he’s doing the right things to keep himself healthy. It’s a heck of a tribute to him.”
Sophomore linebacker Desmond Morgan said it’s amazing Roh has been able to play every game of his career – he has played multiple positions on defense through the four years.
“I’ve talked to Craig a few times about it,” Morgan said. “That’s very impressive to come in like that and play all the way through. He’s played a lot of football.”
Roh said he never thought when he started his first game that he would start every game.
“It means consistency and really the little things,” he said. “I concentrated on the little things. Ultimately, a huge part of it is luck.”
