Michigan gets fancy, settles for field goal

Michigan’s Brendan Gibbons has made a 40-yard field goal, his second field goal of the game, to pull the Wolverines to, 21-13, against South Carolina, but they clearly wanted more from that last drive.

The Wolverine forced a turnover by South Carolina tailback Kenny Miles when Mario Ojemudia made the play. Jake Ryan recovered the turnover at the South Carolina 30.

Michigan was lining up for a 44-yard field goal when holder Drew Dileo ran the fake. He ran eight yards for the first down. But the Wolverines, who lost seven yards on a sack of Devin Gardner, settled for the field goal.

Just more than two minutes remain in the first half.
