Michigan, South Carolina ready to kick off

Devin Gardner gets the start at quarterback for Michigan today in the last game of Denard Robinson’s college career.

The Outback Bowl against South Carolina, from here in Tampa, Fla., has a 1 p.m. kickoff.

Gardner played well near season’s end for Michigan while Robinson was recovering from an injury to his right elbow.

For the season Gardner completed 57 of 90 passes (63.3 percent) for 1,005 yards and eight TD against four interceptions. Robinson was 89 of 166 (53.6 percent) for 1,319 yards, with nine TD and nine interceptions.

Gardner’s passer efficiency rating was 177.58 and Robinson’s was 127.41.
