Michigan outscored South Carolina, 9-0, in the third quarter and has taken its first lead of the game.
The Wolverines lead the Outback Bowl, 22-21, with the fourth quarter about to start.
Michigan took the lead on a 10-yard pass from quarterback Devin Gardner to Jeremy Gallon but Gardner was intercepted on the two-point conversion. The drive wen 65 yards on nine yards, and was kept alive on a fourth and one, when Gardner gained 19 yards on the quarterback sneak.
The Wolverines had the only other score in the third quarter on a 52-yard field goal by Matt Wile. That is an Outback Bowl record.
