Former Michigan players Tyrone Wheatley and Scot Loeffler, also a former assistant coach with the Wolverines, likely are moving to new coaching jobs.
Wheatley, the former running back, is expected to join Doug Marrone’s with the Buffalo Bills as a running backs coach, according to several published reports Monday. Wheatley had been at Syracuse since 2010 and coached running backs for Marrone. He previously coached at Eastern Michigan.
Loeffler, a former quarterback and quarterbacks coach at Michigan, is a candidate for the offensive coordinator’s job at Virginia Tech, various outlets have been reporting. Loeffler was offensive coordinator at Auburn last season and the quarterbacks coach at Florida from 2009-2010. He coached quarterbacks on Lloyd Carr’s staff at Michigan from 2002-2007.
