Michigan freshman Mitch McGary will start for the first time in tonight’s game against the Spartans. McGary, who has played a larger role since Jordan Morgan’s ankle injury, will look to set a tone against the MSU frontcourt of Derrick Nix and Adreian Payne. McGary, at 6-foot-10, is developing into the Wolverines most consistent post player but will need to stay out of foul trouble.
Coach John Beilein has said he would rotate four big men if Morgan is able to play — and that will be an important piece of Michigan being able to stay with the Spartans.
Morgan is dressed and looks like he’ll play but, as in the Ohio State and Indiana games, how much he’ll be able to contribute — he only played six minutes total in the two games — is a question.
