He led the MIAA in innings pitched (45.2) and was second in strikeouts (37) and victories (5).<\/p>\n<p>Schypinski was at his best in a 4-0 complete game shutout over Calvin April 26, allowing just six hits.<\/p>\n<p>Schypinski also defeated MIAA-power Adrian 3-2 April 6, pushing his record to 4-0 and Albion&#8217;s league mark to 7-2. However, Albion lost 16 of its final 19 MIAA games to finish 10-18 in the league, missing the four-team postseason tournament while suffering a sixth straight losing season.<\/p>\n<p>Adrian rebounded from that loss to win 15 of its final 19 league games to earn a share of the regular-season title with Hope.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Heatherly (Trenton) of Adrian was named Position Player of the Year. He hit .366 in league games with four home runs and 21 RBI.<\/p>\n<p>Hope College will host the MIAA Baseball tournament this week, earning the right by winning three of four games in the series with Adrian.<\/p>\n<p>First-round games will be held at two sites Wednesday with No. 4 seed Calvin (16-23) playing at No. 1 seed Hope (26-13) while No. 3 seed Trine (22-18) plays at No. 2 seed Adrian (28-12). The games start at 4.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament shifts to Boeve Stadium in Holland Thursday with the two winners playing at 10 a.m. and the two losers at 1.
