Challenge Detroit is now accepting applications for their fourth class of Fellows. Challenge Detroit provides applicants the opportunity to live, work, play, give, and lead in Detroit. The reasons for applying are endless, but here are the top five.
Challenge Detroit is a nonstop learning experience, both professionally and personally. Through fulfilling philanthropy work and leadership development, individuals are given multiple opportunities to grow. During the program, Fellows consult with area nonprofits on finding solutions by bringing their fresh ideas and innovative thinking to the table. These partnerships, with organizations such as RecoveryPark and Vehicles for Change, provide the opportunity to make a positive impact on the city, while also growing Fellows in their careers.
Let’s face it, finding a job in our economy is tough. But with Challenge Detroit, Fellows are employed by leading companies such as United Way, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Mango Languages and Beaumont Health System. Fellows develop professional skills, network with industry leaders and develop their careers by working with growing companies. The opportunities don’t stop there though – many stay in Detroit, either within their host company or another Challenge Detroit-related organization after the year is up. On top of that, ten former Fellows have started their own exciting ventures, much of that due to their experiences with Challenge Detroit.
New City, New Support System
Challenge Detroit isn’t all work and no play! Fellows are colleagues, supporters, roommates and friends. Bonds are strengthened through the social and cultural exploration of the city. The city of Detroit offers spirited sporting events, diverse restaurants, a great offering of museums and a vivacious nightlife.
Participation in Detroit’s Revitalization
After surviving the globalized auto industry, high crime rates and bankruptcy, Detroit is making its comeback. The Challenge Detroit Fellows get to be a part part of this revitalization. With countless startups and a growing tech industry now is an exciting time to be an entrepreneurial thinker in Detroit.
Detroit as Home
After a year of full immersion in Detroit, Fellows have the chance to shape the city into whatever they want it to be. With a 90 percent retention rate following the program, many Fellows are choosing to plant their roots here. From volunteering at RecoveryPark’s organic greenhouse to taking in a Detroit Tigers game, they are making the city of Detroit their home.
Challenge Detroit is accepting applications until Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 11:59PM EST.
