New ways to explore Detroit this Summer

Whether you’ve been here a day or a lifetime, Detroit Experience Factory can help you discover more about Detroit than you ever thought you could. This summer we’re featuring a wide range of tours, some of which are brand new! Whatever you wish to learn about Detroit, we have a tour for you. Here are a few of our upcoming tours:

 

RIVERFRONT WALKING TOUR WITH THE RIVERFRONT CONSERVANCY 

Every Monday, 1-2pm, Free.

Walk along the newly rejuvenated Detroit Riverfront, passing by Hart Plaza, the GM Renaissance Center, and the Gateway to Freedom Monument. Also catch a great view of the city’s skyline.

 

DOWNTOWN ART & ARCHITECTURE WALKING TOUR WITH PURE DETROIT

Every Wednesday,  5pm – 6pm, Free.
 Every Friday, 12pm, Free.

Experience Detroit’s rich history through its awe-inspiring building and artwork. Highlights include the Spirit of Detroit statue and the Guardian Building, and Art Deco masterpiece.

 

EXPERIENCE DETROIT: RIVER DAYS BAR TOUR


Saturday, June 20, from 7pm-10pm, $15.

Looking to grab a drink during River Days? Join us as we stop by Andrews on the Corner, Atwater Block Brewery, and They Say, all within walking distance of the festival.

 

STEM DETROIT KIDS TOUR WITH MICHIGAN SCIENCE CENTER

July 11, 10am – 12pm with planetarium show at 1pm
$20 for adults $15 for kids

Looking for an educational tour for whole family? This is the tour for you. Stops include Comerica Park, Campus Martius, and the Guardian Building. Ticket includes free admission to the 1pm Planetarium Show at the Michigan Science Center.

 

WALK WINDSOR TOUR WITH MODEL D

July 12, 1pm – 4pm, $15.

Ever wonder what it’s like on the other side of the river? Come with us as we see some of Windsor’s restaurants, shops and historical sites.

Jeanette Pierce
Jeanette Pierce is Executive Director at Detroit Experience Factory, an organization that helps locals and newcomers get connected to the city. A life-long Detroiter who grew up in the Morningside neighborhood, Jeanette founded Inside Detroit, a nonprofit that used tours and experiences to educate locals and visitors about Detroit’s history, culture and community. It later merged with D:hive to expand offerings and other resources related to real estate, jobs, important city data, retail options, small business and more. Jeanette was honored by Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the Top Twenty in their 20’s in 2007, was awarded the Shining Light Future Leader Award from the Detroit Free Press in 2010, and the Detroit Young Professionals Vanguard Award in 2011.
