Along with our partners at the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP), Detroit Experience Factory (DXF) is proud to announce, Walk Detroit; A call for Detroiters to park their cars and walk their city. We’ve placed more than 50 signs in the Downtown area, highlighting routes city goers can take to navigate construction and find new places of business and recreation.
What do Detroiters stand to gain from choosing to walk instead of drive?
Aside from the added exercise and health benefits, Walk Detroit is an opportunity to see a familiar place in a new way, an opportunity for Detroiters to engage with the growing downtown community, see the sights, and make some new friends along the way.
Use the hashtag #WalkDetroit to share your adventures, and be sure to tag; the Downtown Detroit Partnership on Instagram or Twitter at @DDPDetroit or on Facebook.
Between July 16, 2015, and November 30, 2015, the DDP will be giving away $25 gift cards from area businesses to randomly selected #WalkDetroit participants. All participants will be entered to win a Garmin Vivofit 2. The winner will be selected at the completion of the campaign.

Through a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, DDP is using the Walk [Your City] (WYC) toolkit. WYC is a civic startup focused on building more livable cities. The startup developed an online walkability toolkit allowing people to get involved in making their communities more vibrant and walkable.
