First batch of 3DS 'Ambassador' games available

The Nintendo 3DS (Nintendo)

As mentioned previously, Nintendo made moves to placate those early-adopters who bought one of the 3DS handheld units at the original price of $250. If you had purchased one of the units at that price, and had accessed the online eShop prior to Aug. 12, you would be able to download a total of 20 games for free.

The first batch of those free games has now been released. To access them, if you are eligible:

  1. Go into eShop
  2. Click the upper-left “Menu” touch screen button and select “Settings/Others”
  3. Click “Your Downloads”
  4. Scroll down the screen, going past your previous download history, until you see the NES titles.
  5. Click the Redownload button for each game to download.

This first batch of games are all from the “Virtual Console” line of releases, which are re-releases of original NES games that have been converted (“ported”) for the 3DS. The games are:

  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Metroid
  • Legend of Zelda
  • NES Open Tournament Golf
  • Zelda II: Adventure of Link
  • Yoshi
  • Wrecking Crew
  • Ice Climber
  • Balloon Fight
  • Donkey Kong, Jr.
