“Call of Duty” is one of the more enduring video game franchises, and its spin-off “Modern Warfare” must not be doing too badly since its up to a third title.
The latest version of the best-selling franchise includes three playing modes. There’s a single-player mode that picks up where “MW2″ left off and takes players around the world. The co-op Spec Ops mode returns with 16 multiplayer maps with sub-modes for Mission or Survival. Then there’s the free-for-all multiplayer mode with new features and strike packages.
According to the Associated Press, the game broke last year’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops” sales record with $400 million in sales over the first 24 hours. (“Black Ops” was $360 million.) The game went on sale Tuesday.
