Just as every May sees Free Comic Book Day, June gets Free RPG Day, and that day will be this Saturday, June 16.
Fans of role-playing games can try out the latest titles and, best of all, get free stuff. More than a dozen companies are donating the freebies to stores, and they range from big names to smaller companies.
Wizards of the Coast, for example, will be giving away a “Dungeons & Dragons” fourth edition adventure, “Dead in the Eye.” Q-Workshop will have unique dice available, and Pamean Games has a quickstart for its steampunk “Brass & Steel.”
My favorite: Dice Candies is promoting its product launch with chocolate dice. Yum. (I may have to write more about these folks some day.)

Find the full list of available goodies and your nearest participating game store at the Free RPG Day website. Distribution of free items will vary from store to store, so check first or, at the very least, don’t assume you can get those chocolate dice by just walking in since items are limited in quantity. And there’s still a cost for retailers, so be sure to thank them.
Metro Detroit stores joining the fun include: Guild of Blades in Madison Heights, RIW Hobbies in Livonia, Pandemonium in Garden City, Warriors 3 Comics & Games in Wayne and Sundance Cards in Shelby Township.
Slay a dragon for me!
