After giving the digital restoration treatment to the original “Star Trek,” Paramount is now releasing its amped up version of “The Next Generation” on Blu-ray, starting with Season One on Tuesday.
To celebrate, there will also be a one-night-only theatrical event, with two remastered episodes showing at select movie theaters on Monday. Get tickets now at the Fathom Events website and at participating theaters. Theaters in Ann Arbor, Canton Township (where I’m headed), Sterling Heights, Walled Lake and Ypsilanti have signed on locally. See the full list online.
The two episodes are “Where No One Has Gone Before” (Ep. 106) and “Datalore” (Ep. 114). According to Fathom, they were handpicked by “TNG’s” Mike and Denise Okuda, who will introduce the episodes at the event via video.
Paramount is also providing a copy of the Blu-ray set for me to give away. The six-disc collection includes archival footage, a gag real and featurettes on the upconversion.
For your chance to win, send your name and address to ehenrickson@detnews.com. Use “TNG” as your subject line, and enter only once by July 27. U.S. entries only.
