Giveaway: Win 'Darksiders II' soundtrack CD set

Mike liked “Darksiders II” and its soundtrack so much, he got them to send me a copy to give away. Here’s what Mike has to say about the 2-CD set:

Jesper Kyd’s compositions help “Darksiders II” forge itself into a cohesive whole, and bring a unique identity to the game and its hero. Each disc of the 2-CD set has a distinct feel and sound to it, and the music couldn’t be better.  Not surprising, coming from the talented composer behind the “Assassin’s Creed” and “Borderlands” series.

The gentle flute melody which opens the soundtrack on “The Makers Theme” leads you into a track that lays the foundation for an adventure on an epic scale.  The music conveys a sense of nobility to the main character and his quest that isn’t normally associated with the Grim Reaper.  Of particular note is the track “Rod of Arafel” for its sparse instrumentation — an incredibly effective evocation of the desolation affecting the realm of Earth after the prematurely-triggered apocalypse.

The soundtrack is also a phenomenal study in using uncommon drumming layered with organic sounds and, at times, some very aggressive instrumentation to help score the darker sections of the game. Death’s travels through the Realm of the Dead (and the associated side trips) is accompanied by dissonance, powerful percussion and music that underscores these foreboding realms.

All in all, this is an incredibly good soundtrack and one that I expect to be in regular rotation in my collection for a while to come.
