I’m sorry for the lack of posts this week, but other work got in the way. I couldn’t leave you without a giveaway, though!
Since bursting on the comics scene with “Marvels” in 1993 and then DC’s “Kingdom Come,” artist Alex Ross has become a (mostly) fan favorite for his detailed painting work. He takes models and makes them look super with his illustrations that show every crease in a costume.
A new book, “Rough Justice: The DC Comics Sketches of Alex Ross,” celebrates his DC Comics work with a huge collection of art that later became some of his most iconic images. There’s also a lot of other goodies, including concept work (including some awesome pages drawn and inked in conventional comic art style) from a “Batboy” series he pitched. It’s too bad that didn’t work out because it looks and sounds very cool. And Legion of Super-Heroes fans will be glad to see that group represented, too.
I’ve got a copy of the Pantheon book to give away.
For your chance to win, send your name and address to ehenrickson@detnews.com. Use “Rough Justice” as your subject line, and enter only once by Sept. 28. U.S. entries only.
