Since I arrived home from Shield of Faith last night, I have received at least 30 emails asking what we will be doing next to build on the momentum created by the Holy Name Neighborhood Reunion Weekend.
Our next opportunity to gather as a group comes soon, Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 10 a.m. We will be meeting at Fletcher Field for a spring cleanup. I will post more details after the reunion committee holds its follow-up meeting next Monday.
Perhaps we can join Shield of Faith in worship on Sunday, May 18, to celebrate the cleanup.
Shield of Faith minister Imogene Johnson also informed me today that the church will be holding its annual golf outing on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Warren Valley Golf Club. All proceeds go toward buying school supplies for the children of the neighborhood. Again, I will post more details when I have them.
As most of you saw on Sunday, the school is in decent shape but needs a tennant. The auditorium/gym needs plumbers and electricians. Perhaps you or somebody you know can help.
I gather from feedback so far, this past weekend’s events inspired a lot of people. I was so overwhelmed by Sunday’s service, I sobbed for about 10 minutes before I fell asleep last night.
It would be a travesty not to continue to nurture this wonderful seed of unity.
“Can these bones live?”
Word from Shield of Faith pastor Dr. James Jennings Jr. tonight: “We’ve taken things to another dimension.”
I have to go. I promised my wife I would take a night off.
