A Brush with Fame

There are so many stories to tell after talking to coaches during their preseason practices and here’s a good one.

Jim Carlisle is the new head coach at Center Line after coaching at a number of places including Birmingham Seaholm and Romulus Summit Academy, to name a few. Carlisle was a good player back in the day and played quarterback at Southern Mississippi. Though he was born in Michigan he was raised in Mississippi.

During his stay at Southern Miss Carlisle served as a host to possible incoming recruits on recruiting trips. The high school player he showed around the campus was Brett Favre. Favre went to North Central High in Hancock. MS.

Later, Carlisle was the starting at quarterback at Southern Miss before suffering an injury. Favre moved into the starting role and that was it for Carlisle as a Southern Miss starter.
