Former University of Michigan rower Sarah Trowbridge qualified for the London Olympics on Tuesday, as she and U.S. teammate Margot Shumway won the final in the womens’ double sculls at the 2012 Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
“I’m very excited,” said Trowbridge, 29, who trains out of the Potomac Boat Club in Washington D.C. “It’s been a long year. We know where we’re going and what we have to do for the first time in a while.”
Trowbridge was a member of U-M’s crew team from 2003-05 — Shumway is an Ohio State grad, making them a bit of an odd couple — and is in her fifth season on the U.S. national team.
