The Lakers own the 11th-best record in the Western Conference and somehow managed to get two players selected to start in next month’s All-Star Game. Kobe Bryant’s selection was no surprise, but the Dwight Howard pick was widely panned, and rightly so — even his coach seemed to agree – though he’s starting to play more like his old self again lately.
Problem is, his old self still is a 50-percent shooter from the free-throw line. And sure enough, there was the All-Star last night, at the line against the Miami Heat, his team trailing the defending champs by two late in the fourth quarter:
