Super Bowl XLVI: Patriots driving as first quarter ends

With its offense finally getting going, New England is showing that Super Bowl XLVI isn’t going to be a one-sided affair.

The Patriots, down 9-0 to the Giants, took the ball down to the New York 17-yard line before time expired on the first quarter. It marked the end of a long quarter for New England, one in which its defense was on the field for the large majority of.

By the time New England ran its second play, New York had run 19, but Tom Brady is starting to get rolling and his connection with Wes Welker looks like it could be a big factor in today’s game.

Key plays:

On 3rd-and-4, Brady completed a pass to Deion Branch for 15 yards to midfield. On the ensuing play, Brady found Welker for 19 yards into Giants territory.
