Super Bowl XLVI: Patriots get on board, trail Giants 9-3

New England’s promising drive stalled deep in Giants territory and the Patriots had to settle for a field goal to pull within 9-3 of New York early in the second quarter of Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Stephen Gostkowski’s 29-yard field goal from the center of the field split the uprights, giving the Patriots their first points of the evening.

On 3rd-and-4, Giants defensive lineman Jason Pierre Paul batted down Tom Brady’s pass, forcing the try.
