Super Bowl XLVI: Patriots, Giants defenses settling in

The defenses seem to be settling in here in the second quarter of Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

After each team was able to drive down the field for points (touchdown for New York, field goal for New England), punts have been the name of the game as the Giants lead 9-3.

The Giants appeared to have first down on a big run by Brandon Jacobs on 3rd-and-1, but they were called for holding and failed to convert on a long ball to Mario Manningham (Michigan) and were forced to punt. Steve Weatherford’s punt went out of bounds inside the 5-yard line with some great directional kicking.

New York also announced tight end Travis Beckum (Wisconsin) is done for the game after tearing his ACL in an open-field collision earlier in the game.
