I am not a lawyer, and covering sports all these years, I haven’t had to deal with matters of the court too often. But here’s what I think the deal is with Mikel Leshoure and his eventual arraignment on marijuana possession charges.
I checked with the Berrien County court and he has not “scheduled” his arraignment for Wednesday, like we all were told.
But that may just be semantics. His was a walk-in arraignment. So I am not sure it has to be officially scheduled. He can walk into the court — turn himself into the court — on Wednesday, like I was told he would do, and proceed with his arraignment.
Clearly, as Berrien County prosecutor Arthur Cotter has said, if he doesn’t turn himself in by Wednesday, a warrant for his arrest will be issued on Thursday.
I can’t imagine that Leshoure or the Lions will let it get that far.
