First-team offense gets a third series

After going three-and-out on the first series and wilting on a Matthew Stafford interception in the red zone on the second drive, the Lions’ starting offense will get a third look in the opening quarter. After a 3-yard run by Kevin Smith, Stafford pumped up the crowd with a 27-yard pass to Calvin Johnson. Besides the interception, on an off-balance throw, Stafford has looked pretty good. Kevin Smith has run well, with 28 yards on five carries.
