Ravens go ahead after Lions hurt selves with penalties

The Ravens have taken a 3-0 lead on a 33-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff on a drive that should’ve lead to at least six points.

Baltimore moved the ball well but the drive stalled once it got into “and goal” territory. The Ravens got the ball down to the 7-yard line before a holding penalty drove them back 10 yards and stalled the drive.

Again, the drive got off to a dubious start. Nick Fairley picked up a roughing the passer penalty, hitting Joe Flacco well after the release of the ball. Everette Brown jumped offside on the next play. The penalties, combined with Flacco hitting his receivers, took the Baltimore drive deep into Lions territory. The Lions made two nice defensive plays in the secondary (Chris Houston and Jon Wendling) and those, combined with the holding penalty and stuffing a screen pass, led to the field goal try, which Cundiff put right down the middle.
