The Lions are taking full advantage of the opportunity to see running back Mikel Leshoure.
On the Lions first drive against the Raiders, Leshoure had three carries for 3 yards and one reception for 6 yards. He came in for the second play after Kevin Smith started the game.
Leshoure’s first carry for no gain — though he did make one tackler miss — was nullified by a Raiders offsides penalty.
The Lions first drive resulted in points with a 41-yard field goal by Jason Hanson. Quarterback Matthew Stafford spread the ball well and completed passes to four different receivers.
Although the defense looked a little lackluster on the first drive, they made big stops as the Raiders began to sniff the red zone. The Raiders drive ended in a rare field goal miss by kicker Sebastian Janikowski from 30 yards.
They will get the ball back again with 1:56 left in the first quarter.
Cornerback Bill Bentley’s early injury was a shoulder issue, and his return is questionable.
