Welcome to tonight’s live blog of the Detroit Lions third preseason game as they visit the Oakland Raiders.
The Lions are 1-1 so far in the postseason, and Saturday’s game in Oakland should be the last lengthy performance for the starters until the regular season.
The game at the O.co Coliseum in Oakland is being televised on WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) in Metro Detroit.
People tuning in can expect to see the professional debut of Lions running back Mikel Leshoure who has yet to play an NFL snap after having surgery on his Achilles tendon last year. The second round pick from 2011 should be the second running back in the game behind Kevin Smith.
Although head coach Jim Schwartz wouldn’t say how long the starters would play, this should be their most extensive action of the preseason.
The Raiders are 0-2 so far in the preseason with a 3-0 loss to Dallas at home and a 31-27 loss at Arizona last week.
Schwartz said it shouldn’t affect the game much, but part of the Raiders field is covered in dirt because the Oakland Athletics also use the field.
After tonight’s game, the Lions wrap up the preseason schedule with a home game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday at 7 p.m.
