The Lions have kept some of their offensive starters on the field to start the second half.
The offensive line, running back Kevin Smith, tight end Brandon Pettigrew and wide receivers Nate Burleson and Titus Young all started the third quarter.
Calvin Johnson’s night is likely over. Matthew Stafford is also done and nursing a left hand injury as Shaun Hill will continue playing in the second half.
Earlier in the week head coach Jim Schwartz said he wasn’t sure how much the starters would play in the third game, during which starters normally see their most extensive action.
As I wrote this, Smith limped off the field directly to a bench. Keiland Williams will take over at running back.
