Just before player introductions, the Lions unveiled new banners at Ford Field, honoring the NFL champions from 1935, ’53, ’53 and ’57. They also recognized division champions from each from each of their years and separate banners for NFL playoffs — and got the biggest ovation for the playoff banner for last season.
The crowd remained on its feet as the players were introduced and emerged from the tunnel. QB Matthew Stafford and receiver Calvin Johnson received the loudest roars just before the game started.
