It’s almost like Groundhog Day for Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who threw his third interception of the first half — this time by Cortland Finnegan, who returned it for a 31-yard touchdown — and giving the Rams a 13-7 lead late in the second quarter.
Stafford was trying to find Calvin Johnson on an out pattern, but tried to thread it into double coverage and Finnegan was able to capitalize on the mistake. In 21 attempts, Stafford has just five incompletions, but three of them are interceptions.
The game is far from out of hand, but Stafford needs to settle down and throw the ball away instead of forcing it into tight quarters.
