There goes that.
The 49ers hadn’t coughed up a turnover in 26 quarters dating back to 2011, but that streak is now over.
On the kickoff following the Lions field goal, linebacker Tahir Whitehead forced a fumble by kick returner Kendall Hunter. Kassim Osgood recovered for the Lions at the SF 49.
But the Lions couldn’t take full advantage of the opportunity. They gained just two yards in three plays and settled for a 41-yard field goal that Jason Hanson bounced off the upright and through.
The Lions trail 7-6, and the offense still hasn’t gotten going.
