Lions come up empty again; Johnson injured

The Lions managed to get inside the Vikings’ 10-yard line again but came up empty after Matthew Stafford was sacked on fourth-and-5 from the 7. The key play on the drive was an incomplete pass to Calvin Johnson who was hit by the Vikings’ Chad Greenway on a helmet-to-helmet illegal hit. The result was a 15-yard penalty that gave the Lions the ball at the 38. Stafford completed back-to-back passes to Brandon Pettigrew (11 yards) and Mikel Leshoure (15 yards) to put them at the 12 but they were unable to cash in for a touchdown for the third time today.
After the play, Johnson was being examined by the Lions medical staff, presumably for concussion symptoms. After a few minutes, Johnson seemed to be okay and had his helmet on for the next offensive series.
